In 2009, Canada’s Telecommunications Hall of Fame, working together with the Canadian telecommunications industry, will initiate a national education and outreach program known as "Canadian Telecommunications Week" - an annual celebration each October of our great industry, its legacy of success and innovation and its exciting future.

 

The week-long industry showcase will be timed to coincide with our annual Telecom Laureate Awards, which is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 in the Grand Hall of the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Gatineau, Quebec.  Working with all of our industry associations and organizations, Canada’s Telecommunications Hall of Fame will collaborate to shine the spotlight on our sector in a variety of ways.

 

For example, consistent with our Hall of Fame's Education Program, our plans include presenting special lectures, classroom visits, facilitating industry tours and other events to promote our historic success in telecom and to boost telecom as a career choice that Canadian students should be proud to make. The focus of attention afforded to the industry by Canadian Telecommunications Week could help to promote the Hall of Fame’s Laureate, Education and Outreach programs throughout the year.
