Hall of Fame Telecom Learning Centres
One initiative of the Education and Outreach Program of Canada’s Telecommunications Hall of Fame will be a project to identify between 8 to 12 Canadian universities and colleges as our Hall of Fame Telecom Learning Centres.
In 2006, we intend to identify and discuss with two or three leading educational institutions in each of the four faculties central to Canadian telecommunications our plan to promote telecom education in Canada.
The four faculties in question link up to the four induction categories of the Hall of Fame, as follows:
Science & Engineering (Inventors and Innovators)
Business Administration (Icons of Business)
Public Administration (Servants of the Public)
Law and Political Science (Advocates and Academics)
For example, we intend to meet in 2006 with leading Canadian business administration university faculties to assess their interest in participating as a Telecom Learning Centre for students interested in a business career within the telecommunications industry in Canada.
Through these designated Telecom Learning Centres, we intend to facilitate the offering of annual Hall of Fame telecommunications scholarships. We intend to publish our student scholars’ research papers on our website and invite the winning students to present their papers at the annual Hall of Fame Lectures. The Telecom Learning Centres will also be key venues for Hall of Fame seminars and events, including presentations by our speakers as part of our Hall of Fame lecture series.
