Canada’s Telecommunications Hall of Fame is preparing for the announcement of this year’s Class of 2007 Telecom Laureates. The announcement is to take place on June 4th at the Hall of Fame’s VIP Luncheon at the Palliser Hotel’s Crystal Ballroom in Calgary.
The Nominations Committee and the Selections Committee of the Hall of Fame have now completed their deliberations, which began back in November of 2006. The names of the Telecom Laureates are greatly anticipated by Canadian telecom companies and the media across the country.
Keep tuned to Canada’s Telecommunications Hall of Fame website for June 4th and mark your calendars to celebrate the Class of 2007 Telecom Laureates at the 2007 Telecom Laureate Awards, our 3rd annual Induction Ceremonies and Gala Dinner at the historic Gare Windsor Train Station on Tuesday, October 16th, 2007 in Montreal.
Proud Partners: WiTec and Canada’s Telecommunications Hall of Fame
Canada’s Telecommunications Hall of Fame is pleased to announce that WiTec – Alberta’s premier wireless telecom association – will co-host the Hall of Fame’s VIP Luncheon in Calgary, June 4th. The event, by invitation only, includes senior executives of Canada’s telecommunication community and the leaders of the industry from Western Canada who will be on hand to hear the announcement of this year’s Telecom Laureates.
The Telecom Hall of Fame reaches out to all regional and national associations which represent telecommunications companies, and is particularly proud to work with WiTec. WiTec’s aim is to help link and leverage organizations, events, resources and projects that are helping to grow and strengthen the Wireless & Telecom sectors in Alberta. In addition, WiTec Alberta strives to bring focus and support to areas where industry opportunities exist.
Click on WiTec’s website at www.witec.ca and check out the long list of telecom companies. Their brochure “2007 Guide to Wireless Telecom Solutions” is an excellent resource. And don’t forget to click on INFOPORT.ca – a portal that offers detailed information on what’s happening in telecom and high tech in Alberta.
Thanks to CWC
Canadian Women in Communications held its Annual Gala in Ottawa on February 28th. The event, held at the Ottawa Congress Center was another sold out success. Special thanks goes to CWC President Stephanie MacKendrick who singled out Lis Angus, sitting at Canada’s Telecommunications Hall of Fame Table as an important woman in communications. Lis is a Telecom Hall of Fame Laureate from the inaugural Class of 2005, has served as a judge on CWC Jeanne Sauvé Awards and is Executive Vice-President of Angus TeleManagement Group. Lis was joined by her husband, Ian Angus, also a Telecom Laureate.
Another important guest at the Telecom Hall’s table that evening - with a connection to the CWC - was Louise St-Pierre, Vice-President and Chief Information Officer, Cogeco Câble Inc. Louise is also a CWC Board Member and has become a friend and supporter of Canada’s Telecommunications Hall of Fame.
Catch CTHOF in Montreal at Club Telecom
Montreal’s telecom companies have been meeting “discretely” four times a year at Club Telecom dinners hosted by the International Institute of Telecommunications, Industry Canada and Le ministère du Développement économique, de l’Innovation et de l’Exportation du Québec.
Canada’s Telecommunications Hall of Fame is a proud participant at these dinners, where members of the telecom industry get a chance to network and learn about new developments in the industry. Club Telecom has graciously permitted Canada’s Telecommunications Hall of Fame to promote its events at the dinners and inform Club Telecom participants about upcoming Hall of Fame events. For more information about Club Telecom see www.club-telecom.qc.ca.
A great thing happened at ITU Telecom World in Hong Kong in December 2006. Canada’s Telecommunications Hall of Fame met up with a large number of exciting and innovative Canadian telecom companies and captured their stories and successes on video tape.
Excellent video footage, telecom marketing savvy and great networking spawned the idea of a new segment for Canada’s Telecommunications Hall of Fame to showcase Canadian telecom companies – using short, 1-2 minute Audio-Visual clips. The AV and the direct sales contact information on the Innovator’s Portal, which will be launched later this month, brings potential customers and Canadian students interested in careers in the industry closer to Canadian telecom than ever before.
Why is this portal any different than other telecom company directories? First, no other organization provides Audio-Video footage. This media rich information enables viewers to get a better feel for your company than from a description alone. Second, it provides contact information direct to the sales organization of the company – rather than just the corporate number. Third, Canada’s Telecommunications Hall of Fame is an independent, not-for-profit organization, not owned or governed by any one telecom company, federal or provincial government – so it’s a powerful third party testament to Canada’s telecommunications know-how.
If you have not yet spoken to Canada’s Telecommunications Hall of Fame to have your company videotaped, contact Kris Robillard at 613 884 2354 at the Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame plans to conduct videotaping sessions by region – so contact Kris today to make sure your company is included.
